Ergonet Is Fair!
As a hosting provider, our most precious resources are bandwidth and hard drive space. Our packages are generally priced according to bandwidth and then hard drive space. If a client exceeds their bandwidth limit for the month, we generally try to absorb the overhead across all of our clients so no additional cost is incurred (both to us and the client).
In months where we exceed our allocated monthly limit, we must pass on this excess cost to our clients at the price of £1 per GB of bandwidth. Currently, we have charged less than 10% of clients that actually exceed their bandwidth - we think this is the fair way to operate our packages. We'll also adjust your monthly package accordingly and always calculate the cheapest way to allow greater bandwidth consumption in any month.
Hosting Infrastructure Provider
Ergonet Hosting is provided in partnership with Bristol-based 'HNS' (www.hns.net) who provide us with a dedicated server in their data centre.
The support staff affiliated to Ergonet who look after our technical needs already work within the data centre and are able to access our hardware 24 hours day enabling us to respond to technical issues at any time.
Ergonet customers also benefit from daily back-ups within the data centre, so should our hardware fail, restoration to a previous state will never be older than 24 hours.
As our server is dedicated, it only hosts our clients meaning we can provide a very fast and dependable service and it is not affected by other web hosting providers sharing or hogging the servers resources (as was the case with our previous server providers at PowerVPS and WebFusion/Pipex - see below 'Tales From The Dark Side').

So, why Ergonet Hosting and not someone 'cheaper'? (Stories from the dark side...)
Ergonet focuses on quality, speed and reliability. Only our clients use our hardware so there's no contention with hundreds of other users, battling for the same hardware resources and bandwidth.
Big corporate providers promise lots, but in our experience, they rarely deliver accordingly when push comes to shove.
For example, one of our previous providers allowed us 10 Gigabytes of disc space and 30 domains on the shared VPS (Virtual Private Server). We had 'unlimited' bandwidth - which meant nothing - when one of our sites received 15,000 hits one day, the VPS fell to pieces and crashed, taking out our other 29 domains with it... Each single server (i.e. one machine) had 30 VPS customers (like ourselves), each with a potential 30 domains in their VPS package. That meant one machine has a potential 900 domains (that's websites, attached e-mail accounts etc.).
That's an awful lot for a machine to cope with and indeed it couldn't deal with the high demand. The technical support related to these larger companies is often out-sourced to foreign departments who are unhelpful and powerless to make important decisions regarding customer accounts when something does go wrong.
We also tried a dedicated package from Webfusion - and when the server inexplicably went down for 6 hours, they couldn't be bothered to report to us and tell us why! Thoroughly unacceptable customer support standards, we thought, and promptly sacked them completely!
We don't want to ever repeat that situation and our dedicated hardware now means we can avoid the issues related to shared services and large corporate anonymity.
Ergonet provides friendly, patient and helpful support from our office in Glastonbury and can deal with issues as they arise at every level, right down to taking an axe to the hardware in question!!!
Our new service is based on a 500 Gb Disk in Bristol, UK with 4 Gb ram. The entire physical machine is dedicated to the needs of our clients. The Data Centre is in Bristol, England.
